Author Napoleon Hill (a bit of a controversial historical figure but with some interesting ideas) originally said when two or more people get together and work on a problem or towards a goal, a third mind is created called the “Mastermind.” This is a fairly good description of what we do but…

Mastermind? Madammind?

We don’t love the word ‘Master’ associated with our organization. It is not only masculine; it’s also attached to the ownership of other humans so we started considering using a feminine word instead. We considered ‘Madammind’; Madam being a polite or formal way to address women but this word has a unfitting definition as “a woman who runs a brothel.” Not exactly what we’re looking for.

We kinda like Mistressmind…

What if we called it a Mistressmind? ‘Mistress’ is technically the feminine version of the word Master but without human ownership directly attached to it. The word Mistress also has a negative connotation (defined as “a woman having an extramarital sexual relationship, especially with a married man”), but Mistress originally meant “a woman in a position of authority or control” and this is a definition we can wrap our minds around. Most of us have shown we can exude authority and control as a part of what has already made us successful and we know that we’ll want to continue to further hone those skills, among  many others, to craft our wild and precious lives into everything we’ve dreamed of. When we gather with intention to learn and grow with and from each other, we indeed create a power exponentially more powerful than any one individual can.

Most of us didn’t have our money mindfulness together at all when we joined Symmetry7. This group forces you to take a deep look at your own financial picture and we insist that you talk about it. We find that it’s absolutely necessary in order to gain more awareness of where we want to go. There’s no shame in being a financial mess if you’re willing to take steps to get your financial shit together and we’re here to help you do that.
